The California house made famous in the classic "Mrs. Doubtfire" movie was victim to a fire on Monday that investigators suspect could be arson.
Police arrived at the San Francisco home on the corner of Steiner and Broadway streets after a suspect set fire to the garage door and front door, KFSN-TV reported. San Francisco's Fire Department said the homeowner, a surgeon, was able to put out the fire after smelling smoke.
Investigators believe the suspect used an accelerant, such as gasoline, to start the 8 p.m. blaze. Scorch marks were found on the garage and front door.
Homeowner Dr. Douglas Ousterhout said he is not sure who is responsible, but he told police he has been having issues with a former client, CBS San Francisco reported. The suspect remains at large.
The residence was featured in the 1993 blockbuster hit "Mrs. Doubtfire," starring the late Robin Williams. After his death last August, scores of fans left flowers in front of the house and paid their respects to the beloved comedian.
"I think it's sad that kind of monument like that's involved in something like that because people do come, people come to see it," George Gieger, a tourist from Indianapolis, told KFSN-TV as he stopped by the house. "Kids come to see it. That's why we're here."
