Sam Smith is calling out some of his fellow pop stars.
In the new issue of V magazine, the "Stay With Me" singer bonds with the legendary Chaka Khan--while also taking to task some of today's younger music industry performers.
"Even when you meet them--I won't name names--but some of these pop stars are just awful," Smith said in his interview with Khan. "And they have not even had half the success that you've had and yet you're so humble and kind."
"Well, it's people skills," Khan replied. "Talking to a screen all day long takes the human experience out. Luckily I grew up in a time when we only had a telephone at home."
Smith may not be fans of some other pop singers, but the 22-year-old has a number of big-name fans--from Elton John and Beyoncé to Mary J. Blige, with whom he's recorded and co-written, and he's been getting calls to collaborate with others. Smith also won four Mobo awards and scooped up an astonishing six Grammy nominations.
