Here are the top five things we’ve learned (or think we’ve learned) from Season 4 Episode 2, “Turn of the Shoe”:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Ashley Marin is back from New York and expectedly happy to see Hannah. So, Hannah decides to bring up the phone found in Wilden’s coffin. Ashley looked surprised to see the phone and then acted as if someone might have found it at the New York hotel and returned it. Hmmm. Next, Hannah finds Ashley’s very expensive shoes covered in mud next to a toothbrush Ashley might have used to clean off the shoes. Hannah confronts Ashley who says she did not kill Wilden. However, at the end of the episode we see Ashley leaving the house with her shoes and the tooth brush in a bag.
Mona is attempting to get the Liars to trust her. Spencer forces Mona to take the Liars to the RV one more time. (The RV is obviously no longer there since Toby was forced to drive it to an A-designated location.) The girls think Mona is playing games, until Emily and Aria see an attempt on Mona’s life by A and are almost murder victims themselves as A tries to run over Aria, Emily and Mona. Mona also proves helpful after overhearing a conversation by two special investigators. Apparently, Wilden may have been at the South shore of Torch Lake along with a women who was wearing high heels. (Possibly Mrs. Marin?)
During the commotion of almost being hit by a car, Emily pushed Aria and Mona out of the way but hit her shoulder against a rock. This is probably going to hurt her chances at going to Stanford—espciecally since she was so hopped up on pain killers during the big scout-watched race that she couldn’t judge the distance between her head and the wall and knocked herself out cold. She’s not going to impress any scouts that way. The accident forces her to tell Paige that A is back.
While visiting the DeLaurentis home, Hanna meets Trippy, a parrot Allison used to own. Trippy, who at times sounds a lot like Allison, keeps humming a song. Hannah leaves the bird at Spencer’s house. Pretty soon Spencer realizes it’s not a song but a phone number Trippy is humming. When she calls the girls over they all go to Spencer’s room to try to hear the bird’s hum one more time. However, someone has opened the cage—and the window in Spencer’s room—to allow Trippy to escape. At the end of the episode we see A feeding Trippy.
Spencer and Toby are keeping secrets from each other at the start of the show—Toby stole the RV to get information from A on his mother who allegedly committed suicide and Spencer is the only person in her family who didn’t get into UPenn. Eventually they both tell each other the truth.
Toby’s mother may have not committed suicide according to new transcripts from Radley that Toby gained access to courtesy of A. Spencer got help from Fitz on a new college essay since she didn’t get into UPenn. However, she includes the recent events with A and information about Ali’s death in the essay. Fitz advises against this because admission offices may not find the story attractive. Spencer gets frustrated because she wants to tell the truth about her life and is tired of lying.
On a lighter note Aria may have a new boyfriend. She begins taking self-defense lessons from this guy named Jake. After she kisses him during a training session and it gets a little awkward, they eventually agree to go on a coffee date.
