Jimmy Fallon and Nicole Kidman met for the first time more than 10 years ago. The somewhat blind date played out so poorly, the two did not reunite until Tuesday on "The Tonight Show."
Fallon invited Kidman onto the show to promote her new movie, "Paddington." The Oscar-winning actress hesitated to tell the story, but it resulted in one of the funniest and embarrassing guest encounters since Fallon took over the NBC late-night program.
The host started the story about how their mutual friend Rick called and asked him to meet Kidman on a whim. The young comedian, fresh off "Saturday Night Live," scrambled to buy some cheese (brie?) and crackers for his guest and rush back to his apartment, a typical bachelor pad.
Kidman had higher expectations for the "hang" then how the day played out. She admitted that she "liked" Fallon at the time, but made the story awkward when she said she no longer had those feelings for him (both are married now with kids).
The conversation crumbles from there and Fallon later retreats under his desk as the details of the first encounter grew more and more embarrassing.
The two struggled to move the interview forward with sexual innuendo dripping on every word out of their mouths. The audience and even members of The Roots could not stop laughing as Kidman and Fallon tried to discuss the film.
