Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be a father.
The "Sherlock" actor and his fiancée Sophie Hunter are reportedly expecting their first child together, according to New York Post's Page Six. A source said that the 38-year-old actor "is delighted and excited about becoming a dad."
"I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon," the actor's publicist said in a statement via E! News.
Hunter, an actress and theater director, reportedly disguised her possible baby bump under a flowing maxi dress and carried her purse in front of her stomach while attending the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where Cumberbatch was honored for his role in the WWII drama, "The Imitation Game."
"Sophie is a few months along, and both she and Benedict are very excited about it. They are also quietly planning to marry in early spring," a source said told Page Six.
The actor announced his engagement via The Times of London in November. Before purposing, the actor reportedly flew to Edinburgh to ask Hunter's mother for her daughter's hand in marriage.
Cumberbatch and Hunter met in 2009 while shooting "Burlesque Fairytales," but the pair did not confirm their relationship until June 2014 after being photographed together at the French Open.
