Teresa Giudice has published three cookbooks and she wants to apply her cooking skills to her life inside prison.
Giudice entered Danbury Federal Correction Institution with "an optimistic attitude" on Jan. 5 to start a 15-month sentence, her attorney James L. Leonard Jr. told E! News. She plans to take her stay "one day at a time" and hopefully get out early.
"I think she hopes to turn it into something positive," Leonard told E! News exclusively. "She indicated that if she had her choice to work she would like to work in the kitchen facility because she's obviously a good cook."
While Giudice entered prison with her head held high, her husband Joe got a little emotional seeing his wife off. He'll need to keep it together for the sake of their four children.
"This is a very strong family and they're going to be fine," Leonard said. "He told me that obviously it was a difficult day but that everybody was doing OK. He's a strong man, very strong family man, and a good father."
Leonard believes Giudice has the chance to get out two months early. If she does receive an early release, the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star could be home before the end of the year. The family would be united until Joe starts his 40-month sentence in March 2016.
"Typically, you have to do 85 percent of that sentence, so that calculation comes out to a little under 13 months," he revealed. "There will certainly be an overlap where they will be together, which will be taxing on him and the girls."
