Celebrities have little to no privacy in their lives, but a new fashion line could at least help solve their problem with paparazzi.
DJ and fashion designer Chris Holmes recently debuted his Anti-Paparazzi Collection for Betabrand's Think Tank competition. The clothing uses reflective material that washes out a photo when the celebrity wears the item.
Holmes, who tours as Paul McCartney's opening DJ act, stumbled upon his creation when he noticed photos of him developed poorly due to his reflective clothing articles. He realized he could put his discovery to better use and help his celebrity pals against the always-hovering paparazzi.
"I noticed that photos from the shows always looked odd because the flash that bounced off my clothing would wash out the rest of the photo," the designer told Betabrand. "While I wasn't thrilled that many of these photos were ruined because of my clothing, it gave me the epiphany that perhaps I could use this technology for a greater purpose."
The collection uses reflective threads to "render the paparazzi-shot photos worthless," according to Holmes. So far, he has designs for a hoodie, infinity scarf and a blazer.
The Betabrand Think Tank helps find interest in new inventions and crowdsources to fund prototypes of the designs that have the most promise. The Anti-Paparazzi Collection is currently in the voting phase with 266 votes so far and 26 days left.
