Crack Bread: Criminals Caught Smuggling Drugs At U.S.-Canada Border

A Florida man was caught near the U.S. and Canada border Monday with 84 grams of crack cocaine stuffed inside a hollowed-out loaf of bread.

Driver Tyrone Dixon was spotted making an illegal U-turn by a Customs and Border Protection Officer in Derby Line between the U.S. and Canada ports of entry when he was pulled over in Vermont, reported NewportDispatch News.

The suspicious activity prompted the officers to search the car, where they found a green and black bag that contained the loaf of bread concealing the crack.

They also found five used syringes, 25 used or torn white packages they say were consistent with packaging commonly seen in the heroin trade, and two small packets of heroin in passenger Emily Lasell's bra, reported Newport Dispatch.

Upon Dixon's arrest he was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. If convicted he and Lasell face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
