New Website Lets You Ask Your Future Self about Your Life

If you've ever wondered what your life will be like in 20 years, a new website will let you talk to a future version of yourself to find out.

The site, called Future Self, creates a semi-realistic simulation of what you might look like in 20 years with help from motion capture software, speech recognition and 3-D rendering, according to FastCo.Exist.

For those wondering why their future selves have British accents, European telecom company Orange used the site as an ad campaign in celebration of its 20th anniversary.

"We wanted to do something fun, and digital, and not focused on the past," said Anne Imbert, a member of Orange's global brand team. "Our creative agency came back to us with this idea to project yourself into the future and predict what the future would be in 20 years."

Users will be able to ask a variety of questions, such as what cities will be like in the future, if they will have pets, or what kind of job they will have, Discovery News reported. The site, built by digital agency Jam3, will provide yes or no answers for simpler questions but more detailed answers for questions that are more specific.

"No pun intended, but it really is a project that's a bit ahead of its time," said Adrian Belina, partner and creative director at Jam3. "Basically you're rendering things live, as opposed to a computer game."

While some answers are based on things that might actually happen, others will be given just for fun, FastCo.Exist reported.

"It's not crazy innovation- this is not yourself traveling in space and discovering the moon- it's really focusing on potential innovation and on what the future could be," Imbert said.

If you want to see if you'll have the car you've always wanted by 2034, give this website a shot.
