Tina Fey and Amy Poehler may strive not to offend anyone as hosts of the Golden Globe Awards, but that doesn't mean they won't go after controversial topics such as the recent rape allegations against Bill Cosby.
"Oh heck yes," Fey replied when asked by Access Hollywood if jokes about the legendary comedian's current scandal would be fair game during the ceremony.
The two co-hosts will continue to work on writing the show until "the last second and see what we get," Fey said. She also is working around promoting her new Netflix series "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" which she co-created with Robert Carlock and stars Ellie Kemper.
"Amy and I, we'll get together tomorrow? One thing I will say about us: We don't work hard. Always know that about us," Fey joked.
The "30 Rock" star won't need to work hard at all when trying to craft a joke about Cosby. She can just borrow the one he made about himself during a stand-up performance in Canada on Thursday evening.
When a woman in the audience got up during Cosby's set, he called out to her and asked where she was going. She replied she was going to fetch a drink and then asked if he wanted one, according to Deadline.
"You have to be careful drinking around me," Cosby replied, referring to the women who have claimed "The Cosby Show" star spiked their drinks before assaulting them. The supportive audience gasped, but then applauded after the joke (two men did get ejected when they vocalized their disapproval).
Fey and Poehler have tried to make the Globes a more enjoyable experience for celebrity guests in the room, and less like the roast Ricky Gervais made it during his three years as host.
"Amy and I have always said that the idea [is] that we don't want anyone attending to be scared to be there because of us. It's a party and it's - in the grand scheme of the world, it couldn't be less important and I think that's what makes it fun," Fey said.
