A video released by the nonprofit American Chemical Society showers us with some "fun facts" about sweat and the most delightfully sweet fact is: some people's sweat doesn't cause body odor!
Their good olfactory fortune is possibly due to a malfunctioning transporter protein, according to Science of Us. The same gene, ABCC11, determines whether someone produces wet or dry earwax, according to Live Science. (Now, we aren't saying to stick your finger in your ear, especially if you're in public, but just know that if you have dry earwax, you are one of the exalted ones with armpits that don't stink).
Despite 2 percent of Europeans and a majority of people in countries like Japan and China sporting the recessive gene that results in the faulty transporter protein, most of the blessed and non-stinky still use deodorant. About 75 people with the recessive gene still use underarm deodorant, according to a 2013 study.
