Country superstar Carrie Underwood scored a mega-hit with her "Jesus Take the Wheel" single. Now a fantasy hockey writer declares that the singer's National Hockey League star husband Mike Fisher is taking the wheel out on the ice.
"Fisher, a.k.a. Mr. Carrie Underwood, has been on a roll lately," declares Daniel Dobish of USA Today, in writing about fantasy hockey.
In discussing Fisher, a center for the Nashville Predators, Dobish adds, "He has lit the lamp in two of the past three games, and he has five goals with eight points over the past 10. He has 2.5 or more FantasyScore points in seven of the past 10 games, making him a nice value at this price level against one of the worst defensive units in the league."
Fisher grew up in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He played hockey in the Peterborough Minor Hockey Association with the rep Minor Petes program, where he was drafted by the Sudbury Wolves. After putting up 49 points in 66 games in his first year with the Wolves, he was drafted in the second round, 44th overall, by the Ottawa Senators in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He played for the Senators before being traded in Feb. 10, 2011 to the Nashville Predators. In 2012, Fisher won the NHL Foundation Player Award.
Underwood's latest No. 1 song is "Something in the Water." Maybe Fisher is doing so well because of something in the water at the Underwood-Fisher Nashville home.
