Boa Constrictor Slithers Out Of San Diego Toilet

Some may consider it their worst nightmare.

A 5.5 foot Colombian rainbow boa snake slithered out of a toilet in San Diego on Thursday, appearing in the bathroom of a PR firm in the city hall building, UTS San Diego reported.

Stephanie Lacsa and Holly Wells, who co-founded Vertical PR + Marketing, were shocked to discover the unknown bathroom lurker.

Lacsa noticed the water in the toilet was higher than it should be, so she began plunging it. That's when the beady eyes of the cold-blooded creature popped up out of the bottom of the bowl.

"As soon I saw the flicker of its tongue, I definitely knew that it was, in fact, a large snake heading straight toward me," said Lacsa.

She quickly ran out of the bathroom, taped the door shut and phoned the Department of Animal Services to get the snake out.

When authorities got into the bathroom stall, they noted the boa had left the toilet and was coiled around the base of it. Wells said she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

But the mystery of who owns the snake has been solved, according to CBS San Diego. The owner came forward and said his pet had gotten out and he thought it had escaped through a window, since that's what his cage is near. The owner feels very guilty for causing anyone distress, and said he plans to move the boa to a friend's house instead.

For the meantime, the snake is living at the Gaines Street Animal Shelter.
