Madonna's highly-anticipated film version of her "MDNA World Tour" will premiere on EPIX, Music Mix reports. The documentary will follow the Queen of Pop on her worldwide tour but will also shed light on how the pop singer is still such a huge icon and had an impact "on a generation of artists, dancers and general fans who refuse to conform for conformity's sake."
Director Danny Tull, told the website he took the best moments from 88 different tours and blended them all together for the documentary.
"There was just a mammoth of footage to get through and find that perfect shot for her," he told Music Mix. "On 'Like A Prayer,' there must be [cuts of concerts from] 50 countries inside that song alone. It was really intense. I think I looked down one and I was like, 'On, my fingers are about to fall off.' But it was worth it."
"The interesting thing with her is you never know what you're going to get," he added. "She always brings something different to the table. Maybe fans had known it before, but I think her Olympian spirit will be reinforced again [with the doc]. It's just unbelievable, the pace of the show. It's just non-stop. It's very difficult to keep up."
Madonna debuted the film version of her "MDNA World Tour" on June 18 at New York's Paris Theater to eager, die-hard fans and celebrities. In attendance were Kelly Osbourne, Nicky Hilton, Martha Stewart, Andy Cohen and Debi Mazar among other celebrities. The event was hosted by the Cinema Society and Dolce & Gabbana.
During the screening she admitted to the audience that the tour was "the hardest I've ever done," the Huffington Post reports. When asked about some of her gravity-defying dance moves she said "In my book, if you don't leave a pound of flesh on the stage every night, you didn't do your job... Go hard or go home."
"Madonna: The MDNA Tour" premiers Saturday, June 22 on EPIX and online at EPIXHD.
