Marvel's new TV series "Daredevil" is set to arrive on Netflix on April 10, and will be followed by "A.K.A. Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," and "Iron Fist." However, when we will see three other series remains to be seen. Marvel's over-arching plan is for these four series to lead up to the cross-over series, "The Defenders." But, when exactly we'll get these series and how often is still unclear. "Daredevil" showrunner Steven DeKnight has already hinted at a second season of "Daredevil" that would introduce arch-nemesis Bullseye, but would that second season arrive before or after "The Defenders?"
If it's post-"Defenders," we'll be waiting a while to see Daredevil return to his series. Netflix has clarified how often we'll be getting these Marvel TV series, and you'll have to start exercising patience.
According to a piece at IGN, "A.K.A. Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders" will arrive approximately one-year apart. However, this differed from an earlier report from Marvel saying that "Jessica Jones" was hitting screens later this year.
During the Netflix panel at the Television Critics Association event, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos noted that production on "Jessica Jones," which stars Krysten Ritter as the eponymous superheroine, hasn't started yet, adding "a lot happens from the first day on the set to the last day of production...I don't want to set up a rigid timetable and deliver a show every eight months or every twelve months."
If you're hoping that "eight months" part would imply Jessica Jones would appear in 2015, Sarandos stated to IGN, "It's too hard to say now."
At the rate of one show per year, "The Defenders" wouldn't be seeing the light of day until 2019, which would be a bit odd since that's the same year as the MCU's final big blockbuster event, "The Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2."
Stay tuned to HNGN for more on this as it develops.
