Arizona Cardinals NEWS: Kurt Warner Considered Coming Back After Injuries To Carson Palmer & Drew Stanton

Retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner "would have considered" playing for the Arizona Cardinals this season if they had seriously asked him to. Warner said he considered the potential comeback in the wake of the injuries to Arizona quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton.

Warner, 43, entertained the thought of a comeback this season after Palmer and Stanton went down with knee injuries. The ex-Cardinal spoke Thursday on "The Dan Patrick Show" and admitted he wouldn't have been against the idea of returning to the field, even going as far as discussing the possibility with his family.

"I would have considered it," he said, via ESPN. "Physically, I feel really, really good. Now, is that the same as [playing quarterback] in the NFL? No. ... Had they truly reached out and we would've talked about it, I would've considered it."

No serious conversation between him and the organization ever took place, he said. If one were to have happened, though, Warner had one holdup.

"My biggest concern was screwing it up," he said. "Even if expectations weren't high, they would've been for me. ... If I was the reason they lost, that would've been hard for me to handle."

Arizona ultimately went with Ryan Lindley for their final five games of the season, which ended on Saturday in a 27-16 Wild Card loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Warner, now an analyst for the NFL Network, on Thursday was named as one of the 18 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He last played in the NFL during the 2009 season, throwing for 3,753 yards, 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions for a quarterback rating of 93.2
