Expectations are quite high that Fox's upcoming Bryan Singer film "X-Men: Apocalypse" will do a better job capping this current "X-Trilogy" than the reviled "X-Men: The Last Stand" did, but one thing that those films will share in common are the characters of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm.
Ever since writer Simon Kinberg teased last fall that those three X-Men would be recast by younger actors for the 1980s period piece, speculation has been widespread as to what new faces will carry the franchise torch onward. Even former Cyclops James Marsden chimed in with his personal Scott Summers pick.
Today movie rumor site Latino Review has made bold claims that Fox is looking at several actors for each role.
For Cyclops, the contenders seem to be "Kingsman: The Secret Service" star Taron Edgerton, "If I Stay" actor Jamie Blackley and relative unknown Tye Sheridan. For Jean Grey, the rumor targets "Game of Thrones'" Sophie Turner and "Hanna" tough gal Saoirse Ronan. Meanwhile, Storm's replacements supposedly include recent Lifetime TV movie "Aaliyah" star Alexandra Shipp and Disney Channel alum Zendaya Coleman.
Of course, all of these rumors are unsubstantiated, but Fox should be narrowing their choices down very soon as the film is set to begin principal photography in Montreal this April, and ultimately release on May 27, 2016.
My choices out of those mentioned would be Edgerton for Cyclops, Turner for Jean Grey and Coleman for Storm. Your thoughts? Comment below.
