Nicki Minaj Documentary 'My Time Again' Discusses Humble Beginnings

Nicki Minaj has discussed her lean upbringings in an upcoming biographical MTV documentary, "My Time Again," where she tells personal stories such as working at a restaurant and having to steal food, Fox News reported.

"When I was a waitress we had to steal bread and eat that," Minaj said to her dancers at a rehearsal.

The making of Minaj's latest album, "The Pinkprint," will be shown in the documentary as well, a time in her life she described as an "emotional roller coaster."

"No one could prepare for this business," she said. "Until you are in it, you really can't wrap your brain around it."

Some of the never-before-seen footage includes in-depth stories about her carrer, like when one of her crew members was bitten by a snake while rehearsing "Anaconda" for the MTV Video Music Awards. In the scene, her groups calls her the "best rapper," ET Online reported.

"Every human needs to push themselves to the point of breaking sometimes," she says at the end of the trailer. "If you never break, you never know how much pressure you can take."

"My Time Again" will air Jan. 18 on MTV.
