If you were somewhere on the planet in 2014, there's an incredibly good chance that you heard Taylor Swift's high-energy single "Shake It Off." You heard it and you may have even felt enticed - perhaps compelled - to sing along with the oh-so-catchy tune.
Whether you sang along to Swift's "Shake It Off" or not, you no doubt heard it a lot - since the truly infectious tune powered Swift's first-ever pop album, "1989," to be the best-selling album of 2014.
So, why is "Shake It Off" so entertainingly catchy? Grammy-winning Canadian entertainer, pianist and composer Chilly Gonzales knows why. He provides a fascinating explanation of the attraction of the pop hit in a stylistic YouTube video.
In discussing Gonzales' video, Casey Chan of gizmodo.com commented, "I especially enjoy the cinematic look for a video that's posted on YouTube explaining the music theory behind a pop song that four-year-olds can sing."
