‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash,’ ‘Jane The Virgin’ And 5 More CW Shows Renewed

The CW put its full support behind all eight of its scripted series, giving each a season renewal.

The network announced new seasons on Sunday for shows including "Arrow" (season four), "Jane the Virgin," (season two), "Reign" (season three), "Supernatural" (season 11), "The 100" (season three), "The Flash" (season two), "The Originals" (season three) and "The Vampire Diaries" (season seven).

"Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience," said Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, at the Television Critics Association on Sunday. "By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season's storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups."

Midseason series "iZombie" and "The Messengers" will debut soon, and Pedowitz anticipates an early summer premiere for "Beauty and the Beast." "Hart of Dixie" premiered its fourth season in late December, but its future is still up in the air.

"We're going to see the ratings," the president said, but the show is "not necessarily" canceled at this point.

The CW also wants to expand its DC Comics TV universe to join "Arrow" and "The Flash." A spinoff series featuring the character Atom (Brandon Routh) is in "very early talks on a very general idea," according to "Arrow" and "The Flash" executive producer Greg Berlanti.

The superhero shows have more plans for crossing over as do series "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals," run by executive producer Julie Plec.

A "Supernatural" spinoff failed to launch last season, but the show has gone back into development to find a new concept. The new series could backdoor pilot in the new season.

Premiere dates for the 2015-2016 season will be announced later this spring.
