Disney Channel to Remake '80s Classic 'Adventures in Babysitting’ Starring Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson

Disney Channel is remaking an '80s classic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney Channel announced Friday the remake of the 1987 film favorite "Adventures in Babysitting." The movie, which was originally directed by Chris Columbus, will be turned into a TV movie.

"Girl Meets World" actresses Sabrina Carpenter and "Austin & Ally" star Sofia Carson have reportedly signed on to star in the movie which tells the story of "two teen babysitters who go on an adventure in the city to find the escaped children."

"We're bringing babysitting back," Carpenter tweeted.

"We know these four young actresses all have the potential for extraordinary careers, and we're excited to give them new opportunities to showcase their talents," said Adam Bonnett, executive vice president original programming at Disney Channel. "We're especially proud of Rowan and Sabrina, as they have helped drive the success of our hit series 'Girl Meets World'."

"These new movies bring our viewers comedic and heartfelt stories that the entire family can enjoy together, and I'm particularly thrilled to introduce a new take on a personal favorite 'Adventures in Babysitting' to a whole new generation."

Disney also has plans to release a new Disney Channel movie titled "Invisible Star," starring "Girl Meets World's" Rowan Blanchard and actress Paris Berelc. The movie will follow a young girl who accidently turns her older and popular sister invisible.
