‘Girls’ Star Lena Dunham Posts Topless Photo on Instagram Before Golden Globes Red Carpet Arrival (NSFW)

Lena Dunham announced on the red carpet at the 2015 Golden Globes that she was "quitting" Twitter, but failed to mention her topless selfie posted on Instagram just hours before she arrived at the ceremony.

The racy picture flew under the radar Sunday night, but had went viral by Monday afternoon. The image, which shows the "Girls" star topless wearing nipple pasties, was uploaded to her friend Jenni Konner's Instagram account. Konner is also the producer of the HBO show.

"#FREETHENIPPLE cover. @lenadunham," the caption read.

Konner later posted another picture of Dunham wearing the nipple pasties on her face. The two got ready together before they arrived at the Golden Globes. While walking the red carpet in a backless Zac Posen gown, the actress told Ryan Seacrest that she had deleted her Twitter account.

"People threaten my life and tell me what a cow I am," she said.

However, a few hours after making that comment she tweeted out a promotion for the new season of "Girls."

"Girls Season 4 premieres tonight at 9pm on HBO. No presh. I mean, who cares, right!?" she wrote.

She then addressed why she was using the site after supposedly deleting her account.

"I deleted Twitter from my phone and sometimes send a tweet to a friend I trust to post if I'm out and about and wanna share," she said. "We gotta create systems that make us feel safe. Sorry I confused you aka who cares."

Her last tweet read: "I have the social stamina of a toddler who's still breastfeeding (aka not a lot)."
