Illinois Republican official Jim Allen resigned from his position on Thursday, after he sent a racist email attacking a black female congressional hopeful.
Allen left his post as Montgomery County Republican Party chairman after an email he sent concerning former Miss America winner and GOP congressional candidate Erika Harold leaked, and was subsequently publicized by Republican News Watch.
Illinois Republican Party Chairman Jack Dorgan said the message was "offensive and inappropriate," when he confirmed Allen's resignation, Thursday.
Republican News Watch editor Doug Ibendahl received the email on Tuesday, the Huffington Post reported. In it, Allen called Harold-slated to go up against Republican Rodney Davis in the 2014 primaries-a "street walker."
"Rodney Davis will win and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in Shitcago by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires," Allen wrote in the email. "The little queen touts her abstinence and she won the crown because she got bullied in school,,,boohoo..kids are cruel, your life sucks and you move on..Now, miss queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS."
Republican officials scurried to dash Allen's comments, saying that his crude words did not reflect the GOP's opinions.
"The astonishingly offensive views expressed by chairman Allen have absolutely no place among the leaders of our party at any level," Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said. "His behavior is inexcusable and must not be tolerated. He should apologize to Erika Harold and resign immediately."
And resign he did, after Davis told Allen to step down during a conference call on Thursday.
