It seems that Tony Stark and Peter Parker are Mardi Gras kind of guys.
The Krewe of Caesar, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana's largest Carnival organization, has named Iron Man and Spider-Man as the grand marshals of its 36th annual parade. "Spider-Man and Iron Man are true American heroes and someone we all look up to with utmost respect for their service to our country," Krewe of Caesar's Captain Robert Carnesi said in a statement to WWL-TV.
Their involvement comes courtesy of the Marvel Characters Appearance Program, which, as the name suggests, arranges for the company's superheroes to show up for mall events, trade shows, festivals, awareness programs and the like.
Why were Iron Man and Spider-Man chosen as grand marshals over the numerous other available Marvel characters? Excellent question. However, it's clear from this photo that the Hulk should be nowhere near Mardis Gras (or children and the elderly, for that matter). A quick look at the Marvel Appearance Facebook page shows Iron Man and Spider-Man to be pretty popular. Plus, if the above photo is any indication, they may very well have their own RV, which certainly is awesome.
Former grand marshals of the Krew of Caesar include singer David Archuleta, Ryan Reynolds and Tara Reid, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Smurfs, and Batman, Robin, The Riddler and Two-Face. The Krew of Caesar parade is Feb. 7.
