NFL RUMORS: Atlanta Falcons; Seattle's Dan Quinn Wants Falcons, Detroit's Teryl Austin Wanted By Impatient Arthur Blank?

The NFL's head coaching carousel seems to be slowly winding down and the Atlanta Falcons remain as one of the few franchises left to have not yet named a new head honcho.

The New York Jets nabbed Todd Bowles.

The Buffalo Bills tabbed Rex Ryan.

The Raiders seem ready to roll with Jack Del Rio.

The 49ers and Broncos are focused on Adam Gase and, all the while, the Falcons remain silent.

That may be because they already got their man - or men - and are internally weighing their options.

According to a variety of reports, the first from Dianna Marie Russini, sports anchor for NBC4 in D.C., Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, a hot head coaching candidate this offseason, wants the Falcons job.

Jason Cole, NFL Insider for Bleacher Report, revealed Wednesday that he is also hearing that Quinn is interested in the Falcons top spot.

"All indications are that Quinn wants the Falcons job at this point in time and that's the direction he wants to go."

Quinn's Seahawks are still in the Super Bowl chase and, after this weekend, could very well be headed to their second appearance in the NFL's championship game in as many seasons. So, talking to him or announcing their interest in him or Quinn's acknowledgement of his interest in the Falcons job is against the rules.

The Falcons and owner Arthur Blank may not be willing to wait for Quinn though, and have a very high opinion of and level of interest in Teryl Austin, the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, a candidate they interviewed once already.

"Now, the question is, things are not completely assured for Quinn in Atlanta," Cole said. "They had Teryl Austin, the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions come in for an interview and they may go that direction because they may not want to wait for Dan Quinn."

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports also cautioned that Blank remains high on Austin and fans shouldn't count him out as a possibility.

It seems ludicrous to think that impatience may drive such a monumental decision, but if Blank and the Falcons brass feel like Austin is a star head coach in the making and will be snatched up elsewhere, waiting may not be the most prudent move.
