‘Red Band Society’ Officially Cancelled: FOX Sets Date to Air Show's Final Three Episodes

Good and bad news for Red Banders.

FOX Network has officially cancelled "Red Band Society," but fans will have the chance to watch the final three unaired episodes of season one, E! News reported. The medical comedy-drama will return on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 9 p.m ET. The show will conclude its first season run with back-to-back episodes on Feb. 7 at 8 p.m..

Nolan Sotillo, who plays Jordi, announced on Twitter on Tuesday that the remaining episodes are scheduled to air at the end of January, writing, "Brand new episode of Red Band Society airing on Saturday, January 31...,"

The show, which is produced by Steven Spielberg, stars Octavia Spencer, Dave Annable, Charlie Rowe, Astro, Zoe Levin,Ciara Bravo, Wilson Cruz, Griffin Gluck, Mandy Moore and Rebecca Rittenhouse.

"That is what I love so much about it because it is true to life," Spencer said about the show. "This world is something I wasn't exposed to. I always thought when you thought about hospitals you equated that with depression and sterile. I'm glad they have this environment for kids who are sick to be kids and sort of get through that in a way that we never really thought existed."

In November, FOX decided not to order more episodes of the show beyond its original 13-episode order. According to TVLine, FOX typically gives its shows about 22 episodes per season and not ordering more episodes is "usually a sure sign of impending cancellation."

Showrunner Rina Mimoun asked fans to fight for a second season.

"That is how these shows come back - because there is momentum from the people who love it," she said, according to TV Line. "When fans fight, it forces the network to say 'OK, wait a minute. Let's rewatch. Let's look at all the numbers. Let's look at the live [numbers]. Let's look at the DVRs.' And that's the theme of Red Band: 'Don't give up.'"
