The NFL's Oakland Raiders have hired Jack Del Rio, former defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos, to be the franchise's next head coach.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the news first. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport also reported the agreement.
The deal will be for four-years, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
His hiring by the Raiders will mark Del Rio's second go-round as an NFL head coach. He went 68-71 as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003 to 2011. The team appeared in the playoffs twice.
He has been the defensive coordinator for the Broncos for the past three seasons.
Mike Smith, the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, is expected to join Del Rio in Oakland as the team's defensive coordinator, according to Josh Alper of NBC Sports.
He was Del Rio's DC during his time as the head coach in Jacksonville.
The Raiders had been, per various reports, deciding between hiring Del Rio and interim head coach Tony Sparano, with owner Mark Davis leaning toward Del Rio and GM Reggie McKenzie preferring Sparano.
Davis seems to have ultimately won out and now Del Rio will get to work rebuilding a Raiders team that already has some solid building blocks in place in quarterback Derek Carr and outside linebacker Khalil Mack.
