Maroon 5 forever changed the game of wedding crashing in their new music video.
Adam Levine and the band performed pop-up concerts for unsuspecting newlyweds across Los Angeles on Dec. 6 for the new music video for their song "Sugar."
"We're gonna drive across L.A. and hit every wedding we possibly can. It's gonna be awesome," Levine says at the top of the video.
"Wedding Crashers" director David Dobkins executed the stunt and caught every moment of surprise from the seven wedding parties. Reactions ranged from total shock to pure joy, usually both occurring within seconds of each other.
"It was an out of body experience," the Maroon 5 frontman said in a statement (via Rolling Stone). "I had no idea I would be affected by the overwhelming reactions we received from the couples and guests. Being able to create an unforgettable experience for several people was the highlight of it all."
A film crew arrived at the venues ahead of time to set up a closed canopy on the dance floor. The band slipped in the back and started playing under the tented area. Midway through the song, the curtain dropped to reveal the boys playing live.
Dobkin and Levine had been planning to collaborate for more than a decade, according to Rolling Stone. The music video will make its TV debut during VH1's "Top 20 Countdown" on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 9 a.m.
"It was one of the great experiences of my career making the 'Sugar' video with Adam and the boys," Dobkin said in the statement. "Literally lightning in a bottle."
"Sugar" is the third single off Maroon 5's 2014 album "V."
