Mariah Carey Signs Las Vegas Residency Deal To Replace Celine Dion – Report

Mariah Carey has closed a deal to entertain the masses in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, according to TMZ.

Carey has signed on temporarily to replace Celine Dion as the resident headliner at the casino resort. Dion took a leave of absence last August to care for her ailing husband and could be out until early next year at the latest.

TMZ described the deal as "super secret but ENORMOUS," and Caesars has not officially announced Carey as the hotel's newest headliner. The "Always Be My Baby" singer reportedly "snuck into Vegas last week" to complete the deal and video caught her leaving the casino's Cheesecake Factory with her entourage.

Dion had to cancel the rest of her performances through March 22, 2015. She wanted to focus "100 percent of her attention" on her husband René Angélil, their family and recent health issues, according to statement made on her Las Vegas show page.

"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support," Dion said.

Carey would compete with Britney Spears for the hottest show on the Strip. The "Toxic" singer performs her "Britney: Piece of Me" show at The Axis at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino where she earns $475,000 per show, only a thousand dollars short of what Dion makes for her shows, according to TMZ.
