Breakups are hard.
Jordin Sparks stopped by iHeartRadio hip-hop and R&B radio station Power 105.1 FM's "The Breakfast Club" and opened up about everything from her relationship with Jason Derulo to the aftermath of their breakup.
"I haven't spoken to him since everything went down," Sparks said. "He helped me with my bag to the car, he kissed me, he told me he loved me...then didn't call!"
The 25-year-old "American Idol" alum revealed that Derulo dumped her over the phone last September after dating for nearly three years, Us Weekly reported. Sparks said she tried to contact him after the breakup, but he failed to return her calls.
"I'm like, 'We need to talk about this and move past it,'" she said. "He wasn't responding and I was like, 'OK,' so then, I just stopped and I was like, 'You need to come get your s--t.' So he got all of his stuff out of my house."
Sparks told the "Breakfast Club" that she returned the BMW that Derulo gifted her for Christmas in 2013, and said keeping the car "would be like dirty money." The "Sparkles" actress added that she was surprised to learn that the car had been leased instead of purchased.
In returning the car, Sparks treated herself to a new car, a Jeep Rubicon, on her birthday in December.
"He's a great guy," Sparks said about her ex. "Like, I don't wish him any harm. He did some stupid s--t, but I can't hold that against him. [Our] relationship did teach me what I like and what I'm willing to do and what I'm not willing to do."
On her current relationship status, Sparks revealed that she isn't dating anyone. The singer added that she has only been in two serious relationships and finds the dating process to be "weird."
"It's been, I guess, five months now," Sparks said on the show. "I also feel like sometimes guys are intimidated by me just because I know what I like and I don't really have a filter. You know, I work and I really enjoy my work.
"I get really uncomfortable. I'm just like, 'No...' It's just weird! It's just weird for me. Like, I was a late bloomer. When I was growing up, I was always the 'guy's girl. I'm open-minded. What the relationship did teach me is what I like and what I'm willing to do and what I'm not willing to do."
