Paula Deen Could Lose Deal With QVC Following Racial Slur Scandal

These past couple days have been rough for celebrity chef, Paula Deen. According to US Weekly, Paula Deen could be losing her deal with QVC just days after she was fired from The Food Network on June 21.

A representative from the company told the magazine that QVC "shares the concerns being raised around this unfortunate Paula Deen situation."

The rep also said the company "does not tolerate discriminatory behavior, we are closely monitoring these events and the ongoing litigation we are reviewing our business relationship with Ms. Deen, and in the meantime, we have no immolate plans to have her appear on QVC."

QVC currently features, Paula Deen's Kitchen, where they sell some of Deen's kitchen and cookware products.

The celebrity cook has faced a lot of criticism and backlash after it was revealed that admitted to using racial slurs including the N-word in a deposition. Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers are currently being sued but a former employee, Lisa Jackson, after claims that the employees faced "hostile work environments."

According to Jackson, while Deen was planning her brother's 2007 wedding she reportedly told the wait staff at her restaurant, "Well what I would really like is a bunch of little [N-word] to wear long sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties... now that would be a true Sothern wedding, wouldn't it?"

Deen denied using the racial slur at the point but did admit to using it before.

The 66-year-old has issued two video apologies after skipping out on an interview with Matt Lauer on the "Today" show due to "extreme exhaustion."

"I want people to understand that my family and I are not the kind of people that the press say that we are," Deen said in the taped apology. "I've spent the best of 24 years to help myself and others your color of skin, your religion, your sexual preference does not matter to me."

Fans have rallied in support of Deen and created a Facebook page "Support Paula Deen" that now has over 29,000 likes. The group is asking The Food Network to change their mind and renew her contract. Fans also started another page, "We Support Paula Deen," with over 275,000 likes.
