A new app going by the name of RunPee will come in handy when you are at the movies and you can't resist the need to use the restroom.
Former software engineer Dan Florio created the app to use in that three-to-four-minute period in a film when nothing will happen that viewers will regret missing, according to CBS News.
"You don't want to come back into the theater and someone be like, 'Hey Darth Vader is Luke's father," Florio said.
The 48-year-old native of Asheville, North Carolina came up with the idea for RunPee in 2008 after seeing "King Kong," a three-hour film, and having to go to the bathroom ninety minutes in. He said his need for a bathroom break kept him from enjoying the movie, and that he couldn't wait for the film to end so he could get to the restroom.
"Out of that pain came the RunPee app," Florio added.
Users will get a vibrating alert from their phone when they think about going, and RunPee will provide them with a quick summary of what they missed when they come back, CBS News reported.
Florio used the app when he went to see the Disney animated movie "Frozen," receiving a suggestion to use the restroom during the song, "Let it Go."
"They're just singing a song. Well, it turned out to be that song that won all sorts of awards and stuff," Florio said.
RunPee currently has 1 million downloads and 450,000 active users, and Florio is surprised at the success he has had providing a tool that tells people the best times to take a bathroom break at the movies, CBS News reported.
"Every great app solves a problem. Whether it's Google Maps- you're lost and you need to find out how to get to someplace. Run Pee solves a problem," Florio said.
