"Game of Thrones in space," eh? I'm surprised it took this long for other shows to start this kind of branding. Next thing you know were going to have "Game of Thrones underwater," "Game of Thrones in a supermarket," and "Game of Thrones in the sewers."
But, I digress...
SyFy's upcoming series "The Expanse," which is being billed as, you guessed it, "Game of Thrones in space" has a trailer that does look pretty epic, and will undoubtedly get even the most jaded sci-fi fanboy (or girl) a bit geeked up.
According to a report at CNET, "The Expanse" is based on a science fiction novel called "Leviathan Wakes," the first in a series of nine books by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, who cooperatively use the pen name James S. A. Corey. "Leviathan Wakes" has garnered a good deal of praise from book critics and even "Game of Thrones" writer George R.R. Martin himself, who called the book a "really kick-ass space opera."
The fine folks at SyFy tell us that the series will follow the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective (Thomas Jane) and a rogue ship's captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.
The first season of "The Expanse" will be 10 episodes long, and is set to debut on the SyFy Channel sometime in 2015. Check out the well-crafted trailer below:
