Bubba Watson had a late meltdown on Sunday during the Travelers Championship. Watson squandered a two-shot lead on the 16th hole and was caught berating his caddie on camera, USA Today Sports.
Stepping onto the par-3 16th hole with a two-shot lead, the odds were in Watson's favor to win the tournament. It wasn't to be. Watson's tee shot splashed into the water.
Watson turned to his caddie, Ted Scott.
"Water. It's in the water. That club. Yes, the water," Watson scolded.
CBS Sports caught the unhappy exchange on its television broadcast.
Yahoo! Sports describes what happened next: "The pair made their way to the drop circle, some 125 yards from the hole. It's clearly a wedge for Watson, who has a lot of pop in the bat. Watson hit his third shot, a low bullet that flew the green, leaving him with a precarious chip shot for his fourth. Again, Watson blamed his caddie."
"So you're telling me that's the right yardage?" Watson chided Scott again.
Watson complained to Scott and sarcastically asked him rhetorical questions about his club selections. At one point, Watson picked up his own golf bag as if he was going to carry it himself for the last two holes. Scott ultimately finished the round with the bag.
CBS Sports commentator David Feherty called out Watson for his behavior after his poor fourth shot.
"I supposed that might've been the wrong club," Feherty said sarcastically.
Watson made a triple-bogey 6, effectively ending his chances of winning the tournament.
After the round, Watson tweeted his responsibility:
