Australian Golfer Robert Allenby Kidnapped, Beaten, Robbed And Left In Hawaii Park

An unknown group of people kidnapped, beat, robbed and left an Australian golfer in Hawaii after he missed the cut in the Sony Open.

Robert Allenby, 43, went to the Amuse Wine Bar in Honolulu with his friend Anthony Puntoriero when he was kidnapped and then left in a park, according to the Daily Mail. Allenby said he and his friend paid the tab at 10:48 p.m. and then got separated when his friend left for the bathroom. Allenby cannot recall the kidnapping because he believes he was drugged.

A homeless woman in the park told Allenby that she saw a few guys pull up on the side of the road and toss him out of the car. He came to in the park, where the homeless woman and a retired military man helped him get back to his hotel. Allenby said he did not have his phone, wallet or any cash after the kidnapping.

Allenby talked with local authorities and PGA Tour officials Saturday in his hotel room, USA Today reported. He did not go to the hospital, but he received medical care from paramedics in his room. Allenby is assisting the police, the PGA Tour and FBI officials with inquiries.

"We have some names and numbers, and they have some leads to follow up, so I am confident they will get the guys," Allenby said. "With the FBI guys involved, they're the best, the guys on the tour are awesome, and they'll get to the bottom of it."

Allenby failed to make the cut in the first two days of the open, the Daily Mail said. He turned pro in 1991. He has performed consistently in the PGA Tour for 15 years, but he has never won a major tournament. He finished seventh at the PGA Tour twice in 2004 at the U.S. Open and in 2008 with the Open Championship. He won Australia's "triple crown" in 2005. He has represented the international team five times at the Presidents Cup between 1993 and 2009. He sits at the 27th spot on the all-time list for the PGA Tour. He earns about $27 million.
