Demi Lovato Feels ‘Humbled’ From All The Support After Her Estranged Father Dies

Demi Lovato missed a scheduled photo shoot with her "The X Factor" co-stars after her estranged father died, Fox News Latino reports. Judges, Paulina Rubio, Kelly Rowland and Simon Cowell, as well as the host, Mario Lopez all tweeted their condolences to the 20-year-old singer.

"Te amo [I love you] @ddlovato sorry for ur loss, I know what it feels. Nothing we can say its [sic] enough," Rubio tweeted to her friend.

Even Cowell posted "My thoughts are with you Demi. X" to the singer. Host Mario Lopez tweeted out a picture of the crew behind the scenes at the photo show with the caption "Missing @ddlovato today... L"

Lovato found out that her father had died on Saturday but has kept relatively quiet about the sad news. On Sunday night she tweeted out to her fans thanking them for all the "humbling" support. According to Fox, Lovato's father, Patrick Lovato, lost his battle with cancer but the cause of death has not been announced.

Lovato has previously spoken about the difficult relationship with her father. According to the Daily News, in a 2009 interview the singer revealed that she had not spoken to her father in two years.

"You try to have faith in somebody, even when you're the last person that believes in him," she told the newspaper. "But when somebody lets you down after you've been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don't know what else to do."

According to Fox, her father pleaded with Lovato to contact him. He spoke to Radar Online telling the website how he had not spoken to his daughter but desperately wanted to talk to her but his attempts at reaching out to her had failed. He hoped by reaching out to her through the media she would actually call him this time.

"I want Demi to know that I would do anything in the world for my little girl, I just want to hear her voice," her dad told Radar Online. "Demi, please call your daddy!"

There is no word whether she really did talk to her father and she has never really addressed what went wrong between the two. In her song "Love of a Daughter" she did touch on the topic singing about wanting her father to "put the bottle down." Lovato told the Daily Mail that she felt the song, which she wrote when she was 16, was pretty self-explanatory about her relationship with her father but was therapeutic for her.

One month before going to rehab Lovato said in an interview that she had cut her father out of her life.

"Sometimes there are people in your life that you have to cut out," she said. "It sucks when it's your own father. But I know what's best for... I have an old soul, because I had to grow up fast, because of the public eye and because of my life experiences."
