Mac or PC?
That's always the question. But either way, tech experts lay it all out as to the best laptops for 2015.
PC Magazine has selected two Mac laptops as its top-rated choices for 2015. One is the Apple MacBook Air 13-inch, and close on its tail is the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch.
"Apple doesn't mess with success," the publication declared, and it indicated while the MacBook Air 13-inch hasn't had a signficant design change in years, the popular laptop has gotten a hardware update that keeps it in the front of the pack. The laptop costs around $1,099.
Next on the list is the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch, which is only better than last year's model because it received a memory upgrade of 16GB, up from 8GB. The MacBook Pro also has a Core i7 processor which is a few hundred megahertz faster. It sells for around $1,999.
HP Chromebook 11 (Verizon LTE) can travel beyond the boundaries of Wi-Fi and gets a screen upgrade with a better viewing experience. The HP Chromebook 11 has two features of the higher-priced Google Chromebook Pixel, including a Google-colored light bar in the lid that indicates whether the unit is on or off, and the 4G LTE modem, enabling remote Internet connectivity. The best feature: The price is around $279.
Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro (VN7-591G-75S2) is a good gaming laptop with strong battery life, attributes of a premium system for a reasonable price. As gaming continues to grow, PCs are rising to the occasion and mainstream manufacturers are getting on board. The Acer Aspire has a slim profile and weighs about 5 pounds. It retails for around $1,265.
Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series 2-in-1 (3147) is an entry-level laptop that has the qualities of both a traditional clamshell laptop and a slate tablet. The screen does not detach from the keyboard, but it does flip around. Reviewers also liked the long battery life and sturdy construction. It sells for around $449.
Other laptops that made the list include Dell Inspiron 17 5000 Series Non-Touch, around $449; HP Stream 13 (13-c020nr), $229; Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, around $1,299; MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 3K, around $2,199; and Toshiba Tecra C50-B1503, around $699.
