iOS 7 Beta Released for iPad: New Version Updates Control Center, Adds Voice Memos and Tweaks the Media Player

When Apple unveiled the new iOS 7 at its World Wide Developer's Conference they issued the beta for the iPhone to registered developers almost immediately. At the time, they promised the beta version for the iPad would be released within a few weeks after the event.

Two weeks later, Apple Inc. has seeded the iOS 7 beta to developers. It's now available in the settings application via the "Software Update" section, according to 9to5Mac.

The newest beta version has a few improvements tacked onto it from the previous, iPhone only, incarnation. This isn't surprising as it is only in beta form and thus subject to change. It's likely the new features, seen on the iPad and updated iPhone version, are just the tip of the iceberg for Apple as it tests the newest operating system between now and its official launch in the fall.

Some of the newest features to iOS 7 include the return of Voice Memos to iOS. The feature allows users to record voices, either their own or others, right on their smartphone. Like everything else on the iOS 7, the design of the Voice Memos app is completely redone. TechCrunch reports the new app has gotten rid of the skeumorphic rendition of the microphone and replaced it with a flatter voice line.

Siri finally has his or her new voices available to the public. Users can choose between a male voice or a female voice. The Control Center has been updated with a few new buttons as well. The Weather app has a button to allow the user to see all of his or her cities, the reminders app has been redone as well as the media player controls and UI.

Apple has said the iOS 7 will be the biggest and best thing to happen to its mobile devices since the invention of the App Store. However, with Apple's competitors getting a decent foothold in the smartphone market, people aren't sure if a new iOS will be enough to save the brand from losing ground to developers like Samsung, Sony and even Microsoft.
