George Lucas Weds Mellody Hobson at Skywalker Ranch Saturday

It appears the "Star Wars" fan can still get the girl. Although they were originally expected to wed each other at the Chicago Peninsula Hotel on June 29, George Lucas and Mellody Hobson tied the knot on Saturday at Skywalker Ranch in Marin County California.

Lucas and Hobson, 44, met in 2006 and got engaged in January of this year. This is Hobson's first marriage and Lucas' second. He married film editor Marcia Griffin but the two divorced in 1983. While together they adopted a daughter. Lucas adopted two more children after the divorce. His son, Jett, acted as his best man at the wedding while his daughters, Katie and Amanda, served as bridesmaids.

Although Lucas' contribution to the film industry is unquestionable, Hobson is no one to scoff at. She is the president of Ariel Investments and chairperson of Dreamworks Animation and a financial contributor to CBS.

The Huffington Post reports the toast from the groom's side was delivered by none other than Lucas' co-creator on several projects, Steven Spielberg who joked that the "force" finally had a name and it was Mellody.

The wedding was packed with celebrities and big names in Hollywood. According to People Magazine, Samuel L. Jackson tweeted "Let's give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his bride Melodie on this, their wedding day." Meanwhile, Ron Howard said the ceremony was "a joy to behold" before offering the couple his congratulations.

The Huffington Post, whose own Arianna Huffington was in attendance at the wedding, said Van Morrison flew in from Ireland to perform at the reception, which took place on the Skywalker Ranch soundstage. Janelle Monae also performed.

Lucas sold his production company, Lucasfilm Ltd., to Walt Disney Company for $4.05 billion. Disney then announced that it would be producing several new films in the Star Wars universe, ensuring that the story lives on well past Lucas' involvement.
