Rejoice, fans of the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens!
Yours will be the two lucky teams to take part in next season's edition of the NHL's New Years Day outdoor game, the Winter Classic.
"The Bruins will host the Canadiens in the 2016 Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium," reports WEEI, per league sources.
The Jan.1 game will be the second hosted by the Bruins - the Boston Bullies bested the Broad Street Bullies in overtime in 2010 at Fenway Park.
It will mark the first appearance for the Canadiens in the league's annual outdoor game and only the second time a team from north of the border has participated - the Toronto Maple Leafs took out the Red Wings at Michigan Stadium earlier this season.
Boston Red Sox COO Sam Kennedy told WEEI in December that he was hoping to see the game at Fenway Park sometime in the near future.
"I had a good conversation with Cam Neely [Friday]," Kennedy said at the time. "I'm going to see the NHL next week. We would love to have it at Fenway Park. I don't think we've made any bones about that."
Kennedy also hinted that Gillette Stadium and other venues were in play as well.
TSN's Bob McKenzie had reported last month that the Bruins were the favorite to host the game.
The NHL has not yet made an official announcement, but if recent reports are accurate, Bean Town, and more specifically, Gillette Stadium, will play host to the 2016 Winter Classic.
