Anheuser-Busch Introduces Bud Light App in D.C., Promises One-Hour Delivery

St. Louis-based brewer Anheuser-Busch has debuted a new app in Washington, D.C. that Bud Light fans are sure to enjoy.

The free app, called the "Bud Light Button," offers to have cases of the popular beverage delivered to your house in less than an hour so you can avoid going out to the liquor store, according to Fox News. Users can either order a 24-pack of cans for $19.99 or a 12-pack for $10.99.

Lucas Herscovici, vice president of consumer connections at Anheuser-Busch, said the company is "being extremely cautious" about making sure people who are using the app are 21 years old or older. The app uses information from credit cards to ensure the customer is of age, and the people delivering the beer are tasked with checking identification before providing drinks.

Herscovici added that customers will receive a few surprises when they get their beer, ranging from gear with the Bud Light brand to "over-the-top, amazing experiences" like a DJ showing up to provide some exciting music, Bustle reported.

Anheuser-Busch is the latest company to come up with its own beer delivery services, with previous ones including huge brand MillerCoors, which is working with the startup Drizly to bring beer to homes in Boston, New York, D.C. and Seattle in one hour, and Minibar, which lets people living in New York, Jersey City, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco choose from a variety of beer, wine and spirits to have brought to their homes.

The app, released as part of Bud Light's "Up for Whatever" campaign, has allowed D.C. residents of legal drinking age to order between one and 100 cases of beer, NBC Washington reported. The campaign is aimed at encouraging customers to have a fun time at any time.

While the Bud Light Button is currently only available for Android phones, Anheuser-Busch is expected to release an iOS version soon. With Super Bowl XLIX only two weeks away, the brewing company can expect to see a lot of downloads in the very near future.
