Duke (15-2) lost two straight games last week before bouncing back against Louisville with a 63-52 win. While their two upset losses - 87-75 against N.C. State and 90-74 against Miami - hurt, coach Mike Krzyzewski isn't pressing the panic button.
"Hopefully we can move on now and use that to play really well Monday night and get more confidence," Krzyzewski said of Saturday's win against Louisville, via ESPN. "It's still a long road for our team. It's not a bad road. When I say that I am not saying it's the death march."
One improvement Krzyzewski saw was how his team defended the paint against Louisville. After giving up a total of 76 points in the paint during their two losses, Duke tightened up on defense and limited Louisville to just 24 points in the paint, according to ESPN. Part of Duke's defensive success against the Cardinals was the result of Krzyzewski switching from his usual man-to-man defense to a 2/3 zone.
"I thought our offense was affecting our defense and we needed to change our point of pick up - whether it be man or zone - and put it at the top of the key," he said. "Try not to let people get points in the paint against us. Our guys did a good job of that."
Pittsburgh, meanwhile, is 13-5. The Panthers head to Durham looking for their third straight win after victories last week against Florida State and Georgia Tech.
