Cleveland (21-20) ended their six-game losing streak on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers and followed it the next night with a 126-121 win against the Los Angeles Clippers. Now fresh off their five-game road trip, the Cavaliers look to extend their winning streak to three when they begin a four-game home stand on Monday against Chicago.
A big reason for Cleveland's losing streak and subsequent turn around was the return of LeBron James, who's averaging 33.6 points per game since his return three games ago. Kyrie Irving also played better in the last two games, something he attributes to better communication with the coaching staff.
"Communication between us and the coaches is getting a lot better," Irving said, via ESPN. "Just being out there and the coaches calling plays and me and LeBron seeing something out there and calling plays, and then we just got to go execute."
Chicago (27-15), meanwhile, has also had an up-and-down January. After starting the month with three straight wins, the Bulls have lost five of their last seven games, including a 108-99 defeat at home Saturday to the Atlanta Hawks.
"If I had the answer, I swear I wish I could tell you," Bulls star Derrick Rose told the team website, via ESPN. "Once again, communication, trusting, and just the effort. It's frustrating, very frustrating. We've got to get it together if we want to go far.
"We definitely got to learn how to get stops. We're going to score enough points to win games, but our defense isn't up to par."
Chicago will again be without defensive anchor Joakim Noah, who's expected to miss his third straight game because of an ankle injury.
