New England Patriots receiver Julian Edleman had nothing but praise for his quarterback, Tom Brady, after their AFC Championship win on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. With New England now set to meet the Seattle Seahawks at the Super Bowl, Edleman gave his take on what "The Patriot Way" really means.
New England clicked on all cylinders Sunday en route to their 45-7 blowout of Indianapolis. Brady looked poised throughout the game, leading his team down the field on numerous drives and finishing the game with 226 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
Ninety-eight of those yards came from nine receptions by Edleman, who praised his future Hall of Fame teammate for helping the team get this far.
"Tom Brady is Tom Brady," Edelman said, via CSNNE. "He was a sixth-round draft pick. A lot of people passed up on him. He's a Super Bowl Champion, Super Bowl MVP. He's been in a bunch of Super Bowls and he could care less about all of that. He just cares about winning the next game.
"That's our leader and that's why you have a guy like that leading us. He's an unbelievable person and I truly love that man. I do. It's great to have him a part of this team."
Sunday's win means Brady is headed to his sixth Super Bowl appearance, where he'll face Seattle's staunch defense. New England hasn't had a losing season since 2000, when Brady was an undrafted rookie backup. While Brady certainly has played a role in New England's success, the fabled "Patriot Way" has seemingly played a bigger role.
Edleman spoke about what it means to be a Patriot, indicating it was about work ethic and discipline.
"I guess it means [that] you bring the lunch pail to work, the helmet," Edelman said. "You go work, you prepare, you get yelled at all, you do all of this kind of stuff. You work extra, you watch more film, and it's for situations and things like this to go and play in the last game of the year. That's what I think being a Patriot means."
