Tiger Woods surprised his girlfriend, Lindsey Vonn, on Monday and watched her win her record-breaking 63rd World Cup race. The surprise, though, was when a photograph of Woods revealed he was missing a front tooth.
Woods wore a scarf over his face for much of the race, according to the Associated Press. But at one point when he lowered the scarf, it was revealed one of his front teeth was missing.
His agent, Mark Steinberg of Excel Sports, said the missing tooth was the result of an overzealous member of the media holding a big video camera.
"During a crush of photographers (at) the awards podium at the World Cup event in Italy, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged toward the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth," Steinberg told the Associated Press in an email. "Woods' tooth was knocked out by the incident."
It's uncertain when Woods will have the missing tooth replaced.
Woods has a history of bad experiences with cameramen, most notably in the 2002 Skins Game when a photographer took a picture while Woods was hitting from the bunker on his final hole. Woods's former caddie, Steve Williams, took the camera and set it near a pond so it would tumble in, according to ESPN. He had another bad camera experience at the World Golf Championship in Ireland after a camera clicked during his tee shot; he still managed to make bogey and win.
