Astronaut Attends High School Reunion From Space, And You Didn't Want Go Because It Was Too Far Away? (VIDEO)

An astronaut was determined to attend her high school reunion, even though she was not even on the planet.

Karen Nyberg, has been aboard the International Space Station since May, her mission is scheduled to last another five months, according to Mail Online. Nyberg didn't let this stop her from attending the Henning High School class of '88 reunion in North Dakota, via a NASA video link.

"Hello Karen," said classmate Andrea Rogers. "Welcome to your 25th high school class reunion!"

Nyberg had a lot to brag about to her former classmates.

"This is my favorite part of the job," she said, while floating upside down.

WDAY has video clips from the event.

The astronaut gave the reunion attendees a tour of the space station, and even showed them how long her commute to the event would have been by turning the camera towards the distant Earth.

The class got to take turns asking Nyberg questions, reported WDAY. Some of the classmates shared what they had been up to over the past years, one ex-student proudly told Nyberg about her new fiance. Nyberg is married herself, and has a three-year-old son back at home who she video chats with daily. Some attendees brought their children along to the reunion, and they got to ask questions as well.

"A lot of our meats are packed in packages like this," Nyberg said in response to one question. "Very similar to what you would get in meals-ready-to-eat in the military."

The guests at the reunion were happy to have Nyberg there, one classmate felt Nyberg's presence made the event feel more like a "family reunion."

"They kind of become your extended brothers and sisters," Rogers said. "So, for her to be able to join us sort of completes our family reunion as much as it is a class reunion."
