Mexico, an early favorite for the U20 cup, was surprised when Greece beat them in the opening game. The squad controlled much of the game, but a clutch goal in the closing minutes of the game gave Greece the win. Mexico's loss makes them need a win on Tuesday or face possibly not advancing from their group, GoonersGuide.com reports.
Despite the loss, Mexico's confidence isn't shattered. Mexico captain Antonio Briseno told reporters there were no regrets with the way they played during the match.
Paraguay finished as runners up in the South American Youth Championships, giving the young squad momentum going into Turkey. Their first match in the U20 cup ended in a 1-1 draw to Mali. Paraguay has a talented attack, but they allowed Mali to create too many chances.
Mexico is likely the toughest squad they will face in their group. Both teams need the three points on Tuesday to give them the best chance to advance to the second round.
GoonersGuide predicts Mexico winning, 2-1.
