Fake Apple Watch Prototype Made Available on eBay, Sold for $260

It appears some people can't wait for Apple to release its new wearable gadget, with one fan buying what appeared to be a "prototype" of the Apple Watch.

The prototype was sold on eBay Tuesday morning for $260, and the seller said the device is "brand new and works perfectly" and that he or she got it from a cousin who works for the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant, according to Business Insider.

This isn't the first time a fake Apple Watch popped up, as this year's Consumer Electronics Show saw several companies show off their own versions of the wearable.

Apple fans will have to wait a little longer to get the real deal, as Apple will begin selling the Apple Watch in the U.S. in March, 9 to 5 Mac reported. Consumers will have three versions to choose from, which include the stainless steel and sapphire crystal standard, the metal and glass Sport and the gold Edition, all of which will come with distinct wristband designs.

Apple plans on selling the sport model for $350, but rumors say the standard model will be sold for $500 and the Edition model will go for thousands of dollars.
