American Surfer Goes Missing In Mexico

Frantic relatives and friends are searching the beaches and coastline of a popular Mexican resort in hopes of finding Scott Fippinger, 20, who disappeared late at night, the New York Daily News reported on Tuesday.

The talented surfer from San Diego was camped out on a beach with friends just over the Mexican border. Before long, he was nowhere to be found. He left the tent at about 3 a.m. using the light from his cell phone to guide him, according to his fellow campers. When they woke up in the morning, Fippinger was still gone. Friends thought he had walked off in the night to relieve himself.

His cell phone was found broken on a piece of concrete between the campsite and a cliff. Loved ones are afraid he fell onto the beach below in the dark. No signs of the man have surfaced, but Mexican and American authorities are looking for him. His parents are also part of the search party.

Fippinger's mother and father are searching for their son raising awareness for him, hoping someone will find him alive, San Diego 6 reported.

Fisherman are asked to watch the shore for abnormal bird activity and if Fippinger reappears on the surface of the water.

"My wife and I only have two sets of eyes," said Eric Fippinger, the missing man's father. "We really need our friends in Baja to help us find our son."

If any information comes up, residents are urged to contact authorities.
