CW's hit freshman show "The Flash" has constantly kept fans engaged ever since the October premiere and Grant Gustin (Barry Allen aka The Flash) promises a shocking finale. Gustin told Entertainment Weekly that there's a surprising twist coming and it involves supervillain the Reverse-Flash.
"There's a big twist that even surprised me. I've seen all the predictions online. No one has predicted the big twist that's coming at the end of this season," Gustin said, adding that there is "still more to learn" about the character.
During the Television Critics Association winter press tour for "The Flash" and "Arrow," Tom Cavanagh (Dr. Harrison Wells) hinted that he's also playing the Reverse-Flash, but there could be a few twists.
During a slideshow of the characters, Cavanagh's face was shown next to the villain which prompted a reporter to ask if he would be donning the yellow costume.
"Yes, I am Reverse Flash," he said but ComicBook.com notes that it wasn't clear if Cavanagh was joking.
As comic fans know, there are several versions of the Reverse-Flash and it's been rumored that Cavanagh's supervillain could be close to the version of Hunter Zolomon. Following the TCA panel, Cavanagh sat down with Comic Book Resources and talked about Wells and the Reverse-Flash once again hinting that the connection between the two characters might not be that simple.
"Or can it be that simple? As a betting man, I would wager that it can be that simple. On the other hand, I'm not a keeper of the flame. These guys no doubt have stuff up their sleeve as we progress," he said. "For my own edification, I'm so happy to finally be able to talk about it. It's the reason I signed on, and for six months of just dodging and parrying and deflecting, I'm happy to be able to talk about Harrison Wells and the Reverse-Flash, finally."
